Midwest Lens Introduces The New Perfecta Ease Freeform: A Single Vision Lens That Helps To Prevent Visual Fatigue

July 11th, 2012

The Perfecta Ease is a new lens designed to help those that need to reduce visual fatigue and eye strain. By adding a slight bump in power to the reading zone, those that experience visual fatigue while using computers, smart phones or tablets will appreciate the benefits of this lens design.

Ideal patients are those between 18 and 45 years of age, the Perfecta Ease will help those that spend time using near vision. Without some visual correction, patients may experience eye fatigue, dryness, redness and even headaches which can be a few of the symptoms.

Perfecta Ease comes in two versions or add powers:

.50 Power Degression – with a power degression of .50D, this lens is especially useful for those who spend time in front of a computer.

.75 Power Degression – with a degression of .75D, this lens has a little more power correction for those that need more reading improvement or when the .50 is not strong enough to reduce eye strain.

Perfecta Ease Benefits:

  • Reduced visual fatigue including headaches, red eyes and eyestrain
  • Two different power additions, .50 and .75
  • No adaptation issues
  • Design eliminates swim effect and distortion
  • Digital processed
  • Compensated Rx in the SV distance
  • Decentered for larger frames
  • Wrap capability
  • Available in over 125 materials

Midwest Lens Introduces New PERFECTA Freeform Single Vision Lens

July 5th, 2012

The multi-purpose freeform single vision design that takes advantage of digital enhancements.
Perfecta Single Vision digital lens takes advantage of our in-depth knowledge in personalized ophthalmic lens design. The Perfecta Single Vision design has been engineered for peak optical performance regardless of the frame style or lens material in most prescriptions.

Lenticularization is a process developed to minimize the edge thickness of a lens. The lab defines an optimal region around the fitting cross; outside this region the software reduces the thickness with a gradual change in curvature, resulting in a thinner lens.

The graph above shows the importance of oblique errors for a single vision lens of -4.00 diopters. The horizontal axis represents the distance from pupil cross to the part of the lens which is being used when looking in gaze directions. The Perfecta Single Vision lens for high prescriptions is 76% more stable than a conventional lens. Bottom line – patients with a higher prescription have a much larger “sweet spot” for clear vision.

Perfecta Single Vision Benefits:

  • Total personalization
  • Maximum optical quality and performance
  • Compensated Rx
  • Compatible with any material and base curve
  • Wrap capacity
  • Thinner and lighter lenses through lenticularization
  • Available in over 125 materials

Midwest Lens Introduces The New Perfecta Professional Freeform Lens

June 20th, 2012

A solution for professionals who require an intensive use of the near and intermediate vision.

The Perfecta Professional, available only from Midwest Lens, is a solution for those patients who require an intensive use of the near vision and the intermediate.

Seven power degressions of 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75, 2.00D, and 2.25D guarantee that all wearers will find the best adapted power degression, based on their normal near vision power.

Near vision point is held at 14mm below the pupil. Such a long corridor provides an instant feeling of comfort and adaptation, swim effect disappears and distortions caused by lateral astigmatism zones are virtually invisible.

Around 65% of the degression is reached at level pupil position, making it easier for wearers to find the intermediate vision. This lens has helped patients reduce symptoms associated with computer vision syndrome (CVS), such as neck and shoulder problems and eye strain.

The Perfecta Professional will enhance the experience of reading a book, painting, playing instruments, building scaled models, solving puzzles, etc., for any patient who needs visual correction doing everyday tasks.

Maintaining a correct and comfortable posture is essential to prevent neck and shoulder pain. Users of bifocals and standard progressives need to tilt their head about 20 degrees when working with computers. Being in this position will cause muscle aches and strain the symptoms brought on by Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). In the diagram below, you can see what a difference the Perfecta Professional can make:

Occupational lenses allow users to work in a natural posture due to their power distribution, especially conceived for indoor environments. Thanks to the expanded near-intermediate visual field, occupational wearers will reduce their unnecessary head movements.

Ultimately, patients will be in a more ergonomic posture for more comfort and less fatigue.

Perfecta Professional Benefits:

  • Extremely wide near vision region
  • Soft design that eliminates swim effect and perceived lateral distortion
  • No adaptation issues
  • Clear vision from reading distance up to about 14 feet
  • Frame customization
  • Seven available degressions
  • Minimum fitting height: 18mm
  • Normal Rx – no need to convert when ordering
  • Available in over 125 materials
