Revolution Eyewear has signed a license agreement with Apple Corps Ltd., the multi-media company founded by The Beatles, for the exclusive worldwide rights to develop certain Beatles’ songs and imagery for collections of sunwear and ophthalmic frames.
The first collection under the arrangement will be “Yellow Submarine” sunwear, which debuted at Vision Expo East.
According to Gary Martin, president of Revolution,
“I am so honored to be asked to be involved in this project. All of the pieces of the Yellow Submarine line had to get unanimous acceptance from Apple Corps’ board of directors, which includes Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono.”
“We named our company after one of the Beatles’ best loved songs,” he added. “The evolution of Revolution continues to take us in new directions.” Martin said that the Yellow Submarine sun collection of 10 colorful styles “will feature the unique, incredible and signature artwork from this celebrated film, which will also be re-released this spring.”
The Beatles and Apple Corps remain among the world’s most innovative companies. The company recently released the remastered Beatles’ music catalog on iTunes and have won new legions of fans via the RockBand video game series. In addition, they have various product arrangements related to the popular “Love” Cirque Du Soleil show and other projects.
Revolution Eyewear also markets eyewear and sunwear under its own brands and other licensed brand names, including Affliction, True Religion, Ed Hardy, That’s So Raven and the new The Wizards of Waverly Place, among others.
